Colossus of Rhodes, Rhodes

A one hundred ten toes tall statue honored the Greek solar god Helios, erected inside the city of Rhodes, via Chares of Lindos in 280 BCE. one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient international, it became constructed to celebrate Rhodes’ victory over the ruler of Cyprus. in advance than its destruction within the earthquake, the Colossus of Rhodes stood over a hundred and ten ft (33 metres) high, making it one of the tallest statues of the historic world. in keeping with the historian Strabo, it remained a famous vacationer appeal even in harm.
